Cool Website Of The Week

Here's a new feature we're adding to our blog. Every week I'll post about a cool wedding related website that I've come across on the internet.

This week I'd like to introduce you to the highly addictive Etsy. Are you a bride that wishes you had the moxy and time to Do It Yourself everything? Are you looking for a unique gift that no one else will have? Then look no further than http://www.etsy.com/. This website is the mecca of all that is handmade. Best of all the products are gorgeous, high quality, and excellently priced. Etsy doesn't just cater to the modern bride, it caters to everybody else as well, it just happens to have some beautiful and really fun wedding finds.

Products like these gorgeous wedding invitations. You can find sellers that personalize all ready made templates and then you can find sellers that will completely create your dream wedding invitations from scratch.

You can also purchase personalized cake toppers.

Like these darlings....

Or these

Finally, if you're looking for a one of a kind gift for your bridesmaids, Etsy has some excellent choices.

I know if I were a bridesmaid I wouldn't mind getting one these as a gift.

Etsy is a great resource for a bride. I would suggest searching for wedding hair clips, handmade jewelry, handmade veils, invitations, save the dates, thank you notes, and personalized hankerchiefs. My only advice is to order products in advance so you're not rushing to buy things at the last minute. Enjoy!

Gen-no & Charles Are Getting Married!

This weekend we got to meet two of the nicest and genuine people, I have ever had the chance to meet. Their names are Gen-no and Charles, and they are getting married at the end of March at Cili at Bali Hai, and we are the lucky photographers that they chose. I can seriosly not say enough nice things about them. They are so in love, so happy, and so content in life that I truly admire them. Not only that but they are both a riot!

Sunday, despite the rain and cold, we went to Lake Las Vegas with them and shot some engagement photographs for them. I think everyone ended up having such a great time.

I Don't Know What To Wear...

We've been scheduling a lot of engagment sessions for the upcoming wedding season, and the most common question we get after what's the purpose of an engagement shoot (something that I will have to blog about at a later time), is what do we wear?

Up until now most couples have never taken "professional" pictures (not withstanding the Photomania's that are found throughout malls of America). Engagement photos are suppose to capture a couple at their best and most in love. It's no wonder that a lot of couples are anxious as to what to wear.

My answer is always wear what's comfortable. That's it? Yes, that's it. If you never wear high heels, and you decide to dress up for the occasion in 3inch stilettos, you will be in pain, and it will show up in your photographs. If your fiance hates turtleneck, and he wears a turtleneck to the shoot, he will complain and he will be uncomfortable, and it will show up in the photographs. It's important that you feel beautiful and comfortable (that applies to the men as well). If you feel beautiful, it will also show in your photographs.

I know most couples want a little bit more direction than wear whatever's comfortable, so I put together some outfits, that I thought are flattering and would also photograph really well.

Different couples want different engagement photographs. Some couples want to go for a casual let's play in the park feel others want to go for a more urban feel, and others want to go for a sexy, glamorous feel. That's the beauty of engagment sessions, they let the couples express a little bit of themselves through the photographs.

We'll start out with a more casual look. Solids tend to photograph beautifully on most people, although prints can be interesting as well. A pretty summer dress and nice, casual heels are a nice look for a casual yet sunny look.

This one from Nordstroms is really pretty, has nice details, and looks like it would move well.

For men this look is really easy to complement. Basically, a solid button down shirt, dark jeans, and a nice pair of shoes.

Like I said prints in bright colors work really well as long as they're not too overwhelming. It also helps if the guy wears solids. This dress from American Eagle looks comfortable, is a beautiful color, and has a terrific print.

Small doses of bright colors work really well in photographs as well. Perhaps you want to wear a solid color dress but want to pump it up? My suggestion is show it in the shoes. Shoes in a cool contrasting color make for wonderful poppy photographs, and they can say so much about a girl.

These from Forever 21 are less than $25 bucks and would look wonderful against a crisp, white summer dress.

If you and your fiance are looking to be a little more casual nothing beats the look of a solid blouse with a dark jean.

And the perfect man look to complement this style.

Again you can create a color pop with some awesome heels like these drool worthy ones from Forever21 again.

And if you really want to go for a casual day look, you and your fiance can go with the graphic tshirt, jeans, and old school kicks style.

And the men's version...

Don't worry about being rained out. It's not often that it rains in Vegas, and we don't mind shooting as long as it's a drizzle and not a torrential downpour. Plus you could wear these cute puppies...

The final look is really fun to photograph. If you want to go for a really glamorous, uptown feel then I say go for it. This is when you can choose really cool jewel tone looks that give photographs a vibrant feel.

I have to show you a close up of these awesome heels.

Let your fiance feel like he's walked off the pages of GQ....

Whatever style you end up choosing for your photographs make sure you both agree on it, and like I said make sure you both feel like hot stuff. That ways when it comes to taking the photographs you won't be worried about the clothes, you'll be too busy wrapped up in each other.

Randi & Matt Got Married!

Josh and my New Year's Resolution was to give our blog a rehaul and really start blogging. I mean really start blogging. It's such a great way for our brides to see more of our recent work.

Randi and Matt are two wonderful people that we got to photograph on January 5th, 2008. They are so awesome. They're funny, charismatic, and most of all incredibly in love. I feel so honored that they chose us to document such an important day in their lives. Matt's family is from Scottish origins, and they wanted to really show that. Matt and the groomsmen wore traditional kilts, they had a bagpiper greet the guests as they walked into the venue, and most touching of all Matt's father gave the family tartan to Randi during the ceremony.

Randi looked so amazing that day....

It's quite a task for brides to get dressed in their wedding dresses, although Randi took it with a smile.

Check out these cool kicks that Randi wore on her wedding day.

Her flowergirls were so adorable. I could of just followed them all day shooting away.

The men looked very handsome in their kilts, and they loved them. They really had a fun time in them.

Randi & Matt had a "first look" instead of the traditonal walk down the altar. We highly recommend that brides and grooms do a "first look" when they find themselves crimped for time between the ceremony and the reception. It gives you a lot more "party time" and it's just as emotional in my opinion.

At the final consultation Randi asked us if we shoot "fun" bridal party portraits as well as the formal ones. I'd say we do...

Randi and Matt's wedding day was overcast, windy, and incredibly cold, so they had to move the ceremony indoors. This didn't stop them from having a beautiful, touching and emotional ceremony. When Matt was reciting his vows, I could hear the sniffles through out the room.
